No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
