Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
