Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
