No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
