Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning experience and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
