Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
