[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
