Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
