Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
