Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from others destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
