Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
